Why Bad Mothers Club?
Bad Mothers Club seeks to provide a genuine alternative to the content of mainstream websites and women's magazines, much of which contributes to women's fear that they are somehow inadequate, as mothers and as people. BMC is designed to be a place where people can express their true feelings about parenting, families, relationships and Life in general.

A lot of us are fed up with the pressure on us to achieve. Whether it's trying to keep a tidy home, manage a marvellous appearance or feel fulfilled 24 hours a day, many of us feel we're attempting the impossible. But when we start talking, we discover we're all compromising, taking short cuts and imagining that everyone else is 'doing it properly'. And even though the state of our children generally proves that we're doing fine, we give ourselves almost no credit at all.

BMC is here to lighten that load. It takes a fresh look at this strange job of ours, inspiring us to stop the constant nurturing and providing for a moment, and find some clear space for ourselves.

Mothers may wipe up most of the sick and shoulder most of the guilt, but in reality our children are parented by many people. So the BMC is also for fathers, step-parents, foster parents, teachers, nannies, childminders, donor dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles and anyone who wants to get away from it all.

badmothersclub.com was created in January 2003 by the bestselling author and broadcaster Stephanie Calman. She is married to author Peter Grimsdale and they have two children.

Jo Hage is the Manager of BMC. She has a background in Public Relations and is married with two children. Jo has been Stephanie's right-hand woman since the beginning and together they make a formidable team!

Retell Therapy
is a moderated forum where members can exchange information, seek and offer help with parenting dilemmas or simply have fun. Whether you have a question, an important message for humanity or a harmless observation about life, you are welcome, regardless of your gender, parental status or creed.

The role of the moderators is to promote freedom of speech while preventing personal attacks. Some feel there is a grey area in the middle of these two positions, and not everyone draws the line in the same place. However, where it is felt that a post or thread has become abusive, it will be deleted. The moderators represent the Editor and their decisions are final. If you are looking for interviewees or participants for a TV programme or newspaper article the charge is £117.50 (£100 + VAT). BMC does not place free messages on the forum for this purpose. Bad Mothers Club Limited cannot be held responsible for the views of members, nor for any consequences arising therefrom. Offensive postings may be removed and persistent offenders may be barred.
Offensive postings are those which include obscenity, racism, sexism, homophobia or disability discrimination, or content that other users might find offensive or threatening, or where one user impersonates another or which may put Bad Mothers Club Limited in legal jeopardy, by being potentially libellous or defamatory. Any member found aiding a previously barred member to rejoin, abusing the 1 primary username per person, or copying premium member thread content into member areas will be also be barred.
