I was wondering, how easy it to make a decent living selling stuff on ebay?

A friend of mine has told me about an auction house where I could pick up job lots of stuff really cheap, then sell them on for a vast profit.

Would it be really really time consuming, full of angst and not make me much of a profit, or is it a little goldmine waiting to be tapped?

Sounds good in theory tho' I suspect there are quite a few doing the same uk - wide.

I've never sold on ebay so wouldn't know, but as a buyer, I'd be looking for good feedback over a decent period of time; particularly if the items were electrical/techy.

Scruff - you'd have to register on eBay as a business first or you get kicked off - you're buying to sell rather than having a clear out.

Secondly - you have to watch your fees because there's different fees for business listings and private listings.

Thirdly - you have to watch your catagories because a lot of them say you can't charge P&P any more so you have to incorporate it into your start price.

And if you go on the eBay boards, create yourself a "posing ID" - like an alter on here - because if someone doesn't like what you're saying on there, they will go and "auction wreck" just for the sheer hell of it

Scruff, I tried it for a while and did really well, I was buying stuff in charity shops and at car boots that I knew sold really well on ebay, after my third weirdo buyer in 450 transactions I called it a day, far too much hassle for too little reward.

x-posted with Tally. There really are some old balls, the auction wrecking the bad feed back the scamming and spamming I hate it.

I made 500 quid in 3 months , it's good if you get the right stuff iykwim?

we've had 3 dickheads-2 buyers one seller, one left horrendous feedback, we queried it and it was removed! the other was a scammer and i was warned by another member.

It has pitfalls but can be worthwhile

I have actually managed to put some stuff on ebay, 8251tiffany is ebay id.

I've had to sort out bags and shoes - dh thinks it's just for clear out sakes, really it's to make more room for new stuff!

I hate ebay now cos its mostly proper ebay business sellers...crap tat for crap prices. Its only the private sellers that you have a chance of getting a real bargain from and theres just not enough of them around anymore..

I have hundreds of clothes to put on there - I'll get around to it one of those days

Smithy, I have generally always been a buyer, but the few bits I have put on today, I didn't want to charity shop without giving them a go.

If they don't sell they'll be in the charity shop anyway.
