| Yeah you should phone in as early as possible. Otherwise they could be truanting, or gone missing. Common sense and courtesy really.

| We never send in notes these days...not even for the older kids. It's generally expected of you to ring or text first thing on the first day of absence. |

| Ours all insist on phone calls - otherwise they phone out and I am quite glad I think it stemmed from those 2 schoolgirls being abducted on the way to school ages ago though equally could have been to cut down on skiving
And they want a note as well which I do think is overkill! |

| We still just take a note when the child returns to school. My high school was more aggressive though, like you're talking about, since there was the possibility the child had cut school. DS1 starts high school in August, so maybe they'll be like that. I don't know. |

| You had to do it before they were abducted Rox. Mine started school in 1998 and it was the norm wayyyy back then.

| Yes we are asked to call in before 9 to let them know. What i tend to do nowadays is call in as soon as we get up and leave a message on the answer phone, that way i don't forget to do it at nine !!! |
Chels 15:59 8/2

| I usually email the secondary school, that way I don't have to bother ringing them in the morning. |

| We used to have to give a note in after we had been off ill when I was at school. With Ana's school I have to phone in before registration at 9:30 and then send a note in with her when she returns stating what was wrong. Recently the sent her home because she said she was sick in the toilet (I believe this to be an emblishment of the truth on ana's part) with the instruction not to send her in for 48 hours at least. The note I sent in to explain her absence after the 48 hours simply stated. 'You sent her home with instruction she not attend for a further 48 hours.' |

| I know I should phone in, but tbh I usually forget DS1 usually has to explain for me when the teachers ask him where his brother is That's bad isn't it? |
Cauli-Wolf 22:47 8/2
| We have to ring by 9.30 and follow up with a letter on their return. I left junior school (can't get used to calling it primary) in 1980. |
