I'm getting a letter from EWO Dd's attendance this year has been 85% Even though the school has apparently explained that they KNOW why dd has been off and that they KNOW that she has been under the doctor etc (just her pooing problem, but ffs I'm not sending her to school when she has an explosive bottom, and they thank me for not sending her in, as they send her HOME when she has an explosion during the day) The school has also explained that there are a few difficulties at home (ie me). But apparently I'll still be getting a letter I'm pleased they warned me though.

EWOs are normally pretty nice and once they know the full situation, it'll be fine.

It's the fact that the school have already explained the facts and that they realise that now we are getting on top of dd's problem that her attendance % will rise, but the EWO still thinks that I should get a letter. Cos of course without warning that won't stress me out. MK that crossed with yours. I'm sure they will be fine. I got the impression that they wouldn't normally give an actual warning to the parent though. She was a bit cloak and dagger when she was telling me.

I was told that the EWO was going to contact me about ds, they are usually helpful and the 3 I know are really nice

We had regular visits from an EWO when we were home-edding, and ours was really lovely - not there to dictate, but to listen I hope yours is too

I've had dealings with the EWO regarding attendance and they were lovely - I was a bit upset by the tone of the letter but guess it was a standard letter that covered every possible situation for non-attendance but it did read as if I was the sort of Mother who was at home drunk on lager, watching Jeremy Kyle and feeding my dd dog food - this annoyed me as we all know that I drink wine not lager ffs!!

yes I had a letter when DS's attendance went below 85 last year - a snotty standard letter, and felt pretty much as kissy described! I tried to phone up the EWO, but she never bothered returning my calls, and the letter was the one and only contact. even if the EWO does visit you it will be fine as you have medical back up for DD's absence. (useful to have some documents to hand, like medicine boxes/doctor's letters just in case). Also if she is off and you take her to the GPs, get the receptionist to write out an appointment card just in case.

I keep reading this as " I'm getting a letter from EWOKS" and worrying that you need to lessen the medication...

I had one of those once, it seems that if attendance drops below a certain level they're triggered automatically. I wouldn't worry about it really.
