Black eyeliner..

Ive noticed for ages that all the teenages at school are heavily into black eyeliner, if you havent at least done your eyes then your a nobody bless em. Anyhoo i love the look of these outlined eyes and would like to give it a go, however my makeup is wooful and my skills at it are even worse, at most i use foundation and lip gloss maybe im just too old to bother and would be too shy and feel to different to work it hmmmm your thoughts please?

ps/i know Glee is on so im willing to wait for a reply or two

make sure the wand is long and the brush is fine and the liner is thin and NOT gloopy

then practise like billy-oh

It's OK if you've got the eyes for it.

If you've got decently large, nicely shaped eyes it can look fab.

If you have tiny, piggy, "pissholes in the snow" type eyes like mine, then the more you outline them in black the smaller they look. Sometimes when I'm bored I outline mine really dramatically, just for the amusement off seeing myself look like a mole.

Use dark grey eyeshadow with a smll brush, eyeliner I find is very bold and looks common Get the smokey look with eye shadow

if you want really dramatic get a black eyeshadow, a dust one is best barry m if you have the cash if not superdrug do a 3 for a fiver range which has a fantastic black dazzle dust!! .

Oh and a very fine brush and a black kohl pencil which has been sharpened to within an inch of it's life then 'dulled' on the bcak of your hand so your don't impale your eye on it .

I have a bottle of liquid eyeliner. I love the look but tired of trying, I have poked myself many times resulting in stingy eyes from the liner and pander bags the swollen red, teary. Being in fashion is painful.
I also get wonky lines, uneven eyes, oh its a big failure in this house!!
Good luck

a bit of smoky eyeshadow smudged on in a line is a lot more wearable than eyeliner itself, unless you have huge make-up-model-type eyes!

oh and if you're going with a really smoky lid then use clear mascara.

I have used liquid eyeliner for 20 years now. It works for me and now it is back in fashion! Heavyish on the top lid, light on the bottom. A bit of dark eyeshadow dabbed over it (top and bottom) to soften the line.

Lauren Luke always looks really bizarre, no way I'd take make-up tips from her! any more than the orange ladies on the make-up counters

long wand....the bit between the lid and the brush

if it is short it is a pita to wangle it into the right place to swoosh a slim steady line at the base of your lashes

sometimes they give you a long pointy lid, which is not qute the same, it helps, but if the lid is wide as well as long...again the wangle angle is awkward!

Don't use the dusty stuff if you wear contact lenses!
And eyeliner doesn't have to be black. I have a purple one and a turquoise one at the moment, and love them. The line is less severe and easier to smoothe out mistakes than black.

get yourself an eyeliner with a smudger on the other end - it really helps to even things out if your hand is a bit wobbly - oh and you'll need a sharpener - blunt eyeliner is pretty awful to use - and the stuff that's a little bit more expensive tends to be softer and easier to use

oooh or you could get that liner stuff from urban decay, it's liquid, with a skinny and wide brush and you dabble it in your fave eyeshadow to make your own eyeliner

i love it!
